About Arctic Wayfinders
Arctic Wayfinders is a family-run company based among the foothills of Pallas-Yllästunturi National Park, operating primarily from Levi, around 200 km north of the Arctic Circle. They traded as GreenTrek Lapland before the rename.
Every tour is private — one group at a time, with an owner guiding. The kit is what makes them unusual: they believe they are the only company in Lapland running tours on traditional wooden snowshoes, which are larger, lighter and quieter than modern ones and float better in deep snow, so a route can leave the trails altogether. Their Finnish forest skis work the same way and need no experience — they are not downhill skis.
Tours finish around a fire. Either in their own kota, over a three-course meal of local delicacies with a lesson in making fire in the Arctic, or with homemade soup up at Pallastunturi, above the treeline in one of Finland's most-visited national parks.
